About the project

PHYLLIS & OTTO FREY ANIMAL AND MEDICAL CENTER 28th August 2000
With the exception of Elephants, Giraffes, Rhinos and Hippos all of the zoo’s animals are brought to the Phyillis and Otto Frey Animal Medical Center for treatment. Facilities include a state-of-the-art fully equipped operating theater, x-ray and ultrasound machines. A room for anasthesia, and one for recovery a quarantine room, laboratories, incubators and a pharmacy. The majority of the work carried out at the Frey Medical Center is preventative medicine, every three months each animal is checked for parasites, and all animals have files detailing their complete medical history. The Frey Medical Center also treats animals injured in the wild and brought to the clinic by Nature Reserves Authority workers. In addition, the center is involved in research into artificial insemination, and working towards the preservation of endangered species
