About the project
The Jerusalem Foundation created the Prof. Ya’acov Shanon Memorial Sitting Corner at the corner of Alfasi and Rashba Streets in 1997. The paved area includes a stone bench with a small pair of birds created by Jerusalem-based sculptor Daniel Kafri (b. 1945, Czechoslovakia), whose stone busts and reliefs, bronze figures and other sculptures usually with biblical themes are located in numerous locations in Jerusalem, Israel, the US and elsewhere.
