About the project

Every child waits for the last day of school and the start of the summer. Most community centers provide a summer camp for their neighborhood, along with any number of independent cultural institutions in Jerusalem.
The Djanogly Visual Arts Center is just one of the many cultural centers that offer Summer Camps for Jewish – Arab children between the ages of 8 to 14.
All of the children are given the necessary materials along with a good measure of inspiration to create and express themselves. The theme of the camp changes from year to year, in 2009 the theme was “Castles and Court”. The children created and decorated their own outfits and accessories, They painted scenery depicting castle life, and acted in a play depicting how they though life at court would be like. In 2005 the theme was “You & I will discover the World” here the children explored art and culture from around the world using various materials as well as clay, creating maps of their own and learning about monsters as seen in different cultures. A summer camp to ignite and stretch the imagination!
