About the project

Elul was established in 1989 by Israelis from across the cultural, religious and political spectrum to renew the Jewish study experience through joint learning and open dialogue. The organization facilitates weekly study of traditional Jewish texts by religious and secular, male and female, right-wing and left-wing Israelis. The organization has grown to include a beit midrash (learning center) in Jerusalem, twenty study communities throughout Israel, and special study programs for new immigrants and soldiers. The Jerusalem Foundation has supported Elul’s Teachers’ Beit Midrash, which trains high school teachers to implement the Elul learning model in their schools.
