About the project

30% of the Jewish population in Jerusalem is as Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) and Jeruaslem is home to the largest Haredi population in Israel.  The Haredi community is Jerusalem’s largest Jewish community living under the poverty line and Haredi workforce participation is much lower than non-Haredi average in Jerusalem.  More and more men Haredim are choosing vocational study after Yeshiva studies but need the right educational framework to suit their cultural needs.  Conditions in regular universities (mixed classes, immodest dress, subject matter) are often not suited to Haredi students.
The Haredi College was the first academic institution in Israel specifically for the Haredi public. It has gained an outstanding reputation over the past 10 years and currently enrolls nearly 1500 men and women with an expectation to grow to more than 2500 by 2018.  Today, the Haredi College graduates hundreds of men and women and more than 90% of them find employment.  Graduating students receive degrees from Ben Gurion University, Bar Ilan or Hadassah College, depending on the course of study.
